Our second project in this area is the 68th Street Logistics Warehouses, these are open concept style warehouses designed for distribution and transport logistics.
Each building has approximately 350 precast wall panels that are strapped to the steel as a part of the building envelope and will take approximately 2-3 months for installation.
In total Con-Steel will be working in this area erecting four separate buildings and installing over 1200 precast concrete wall panels for a duration of approximately 10 months.
BMO Center Expansion
Project Duration: December 2021 - January 2024
20 Roundup Way SE Calgary
At over one million square feet, the new BMO Centre will be the newest, largest, and most modern convention centre in Western Canada. Con-Steel installed 184 architectural brick inlay wall panels and 236 captones as part of this massive expansion project. Working in the downtown core was often challenging regarding site access and required a strategic plan. The installation of the grand staircase in particular created some difficulties along the way and required a collaborative approach between the manufacturer, engineers and install team to meet the tight tolerances and acquire precise alignment. This architecturally inspired building will accommodate and elevate major, year-round events and create memorable guest experiences.

Amazon Violin Warehouse
& Distribution Centre
Project Duration: November 2021 - June 2022
68th St and 104 ave SE
At an impressive 1 million square feet, the Amazon Violin Warehouse & Distribution Centre located in SE Calgary is the largest project (square footage) that our crew has provided field installation services for to date. Over a period of 8 months we installed 666 load bearing precast concrete wall panels. This project required a 250 ton crane to lift the 55,000 lbs panels. Milestone scheduling was a top priority based on a tight timeline as we worked towards the owners targeted opening date. We were also responsible for international equipment procurement, resourcing bracing and screw anchors required for the install. As the scope of our work continues to expand we will continue to aspire to fulfill the wide range of our clients needs.

"Con-Steel did an excellent job executing the lifts safety and working with our team to ensure the entire week went smoothly. The guys were helpful in planning the work each night and ensuring our lengthily list of restrictions were followed (Airport, traffic accommodation etc.). Palliser One Reclad
Project Duration: May 2019 - June 2020
125 9 Ave SE Calgary AB
Palliser One has been a landmark in the city, standing beside the Calgary Tower and holding the corner of 9th Ave and Macleod Trail south since 1967. Typical of the era, Palliser One was clad in precast concrete panels that had reached their life cycle limitations. At 27 stories tall and a typical floor of +/- 16,500 sq. ft. the Palliser One building has substantial external façade. Aspen Properties was taking measures to maintain the building façade and requested a complete removal and re-clad of the structure - one of the first large scale projects of this nature in Calgary.
Challenges to this project were swingstage/ access requirements and initial panel removal with a mobile crane to facilitate use of the tower crane. Con-Steel worked closely with Ellisdon to overcome these challenges. Over 1400 precast panels were removed and over 8000 hours worked with 0 lost time or injury incidents. Con-Steel was able to complete this project ahead of the anticipated schedule.
